Your insta timeline has been filled with pics from friends' trips to Paris since Notre-Dame tragically caught fire on Monday.
Don't get all the hype? Here are five reasons why Notre-Dame is such a big deal:

1. It Has Insanely Pretty Rose Windows
Stained-glass windows are obviously the prettiest part of any church.
The Rose Windows have a diameter of 10 meters (almost 33 feet)!
2. It's Got All The Clout
There are actually many churches that share the name "Notre-Dame," which is French for "Our Lady."
However, most people think of this Paris cathedral as Notre-Dame and forget the rest.
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame Takes Place There
This classic Disney movie is also based on the much more emo novel by Victor Hugo.
I'll take singing gargoyles over gothic literature any day.
Bonus Fact: I still have a VHS tape of this movie that I accidentally stole from Blockbuster Video.
4. It Has Been Restored Before

Notre-Dame is over 800 years old, which means that (much like Kris Jenner), sometimes "Our Lady" needs a little bit of work done.
There have been many restoration efforts for the cathedral, especially after World War II.
5. It's Going To Be Restored Again
Notre-Dame is obviously super important if it stood the test of time, and France is currently working on fundraising efforts to rebuild this landmark.
Luckily for us, all of that practice means that Notre-Dame's restoration will go perfectly this next time around!
